Bringing Joy ONE Snarky Comment at a Time.

I love the Soup. I love it so much in fact that I wish I could watch it all the time. Here is one reason why:

My top five....

I have odd taste in men and nothing proves this more then sitting down and coming up with a list of my top five favorites in movies & music. I obviously am a sucker for a good sense of humor and a righteous beard.

No Ones First & You're Next

Modest Mouse's album "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" , which they released in 2007, quickly became a staple in my music rotation. You can imagine then why, as I was reading http://www.stereogum.com/ and saw that Modest Mouse had released two singles from their new record "No Ones First and You're Last" it was all I could do not to run around my office pumping my fist in victory.

"Guilty Cocker Spaniel" - played at the Hollywood Palladium Show in February

I just can't seem to stop jamming.

So, call me behind the times, but I recently discovered the group Matt & Kim and I simply can't stop listening to their album. Below is their song "Daylight", dollars to donuts after you hear it once it will haunt you until you buy the entire album (which is wonderful).

Now I just need to figure out how I can teleport myself to DC this weekend for a couple hours to see them play at the Rock & Roll Hotel

Save THAT Date.

So I have made a definitive decision on our save-the-date and thank you cards. I know our wedding invitations are going to be elegant and fairly traditional so I thought I would "book end" our wedding correspondence with some fun, cute and unique stuff. We are going to get them through www.weddingpaperdivas.com and Dwell Studios Designed this BEAUTIFUL save-the-date & thank you.

We are going to pay the money to customize the colors. Making the Silhouettes Mustard Yellow & the boarder and script bright navy.

So...drum roll please

Thank yous.

Fela Kuti

Still no word so I had to do something to break the tension in my office - SALSA.

My music of choice - Fela Kuti. I don't know what possessed me to salsa to Nigerian Afrobeat - but I guess I just decided rules be damned... I am going to do what I want.

Summer in the City

Still no word... but during times like this, when I am unsure of what is going to happen my heart beings to ache for home; even if its something as simple as a picture of my old Metro stop.

Plaid Shirt Perfection

Bon Iver performing his song Flume for Minnesota Public Radio

Today I love...

In order to keep my mind off the "re-organization" meeting (i.e impending layoffs) I am getting frantically trying to muddle through my 300 item to-do list. After three cups of coffee, tomato soup, and a diet coke I feel like I am going to lose it, so I decided it was time to take a break and do some online shopping. I recently bought a couple things from J.Crew with a gift certificate I have had for a year now (thanks Mom & Dad). Here is what I purchased:

Pique Pavilion Shift in "Hibiscus"

3''Chino Shorts in "Shell"

Because I can never stop with just two items, I loaded up my wish list with three accessories I could not live without (including a par of glasses I want to make my THIRD pair of eyeglasses)

1. The strip beach hat from J.Crew

2. Slima for J.Crew Menrad Glasses

3. Men's Sterling Silver I.D. Bracelet (I plan to engrave "jerk" on it).

Not that I could stop there... no way. Before I knew it I was typing Tory Burch into my browser and realized almost immediately that I needed to get off the site because there is no sense in torturing myself with things I can't buy. Regardless, Here are four tiems on the site I realized I simply can't live without. Hopefully there will be a major sale soon OR even better - Tory... are you hiring?

The Eamin Jacket

The Jamimina Skirt

Leather World Charm Necklace

Venice Long Caftcan

Wish me luck today, luckily, no matter what happens I get to taste (and possibly chug) some fantastic Pinot Grigios with my fantastic wine club the Winokes.

I think today will be a good day.

fun florals

Lately, I have been obsessed with florals; I've got the flirty floral bug. So you can imagine when I was looking on the Macy's site and found TWO fantastic floral dresses on sale it was all I could do not to whip out my trusty plastic friend who I loving refer to as "The death of me" and charge away. Below I have the two whimsical dresses by French Connection that ALMOST caused me spend...spend...spend.

French Connection
"Lizzy Lupin" Printed Jersey Dress
$44.10 on Sale at Macy's

French Connection:

Fairy Tale Floral Belted Sleeveless Dress

$118.50 on SALE at Macys

After I stopped drooling over these dresses I realized I had a $10.00 gift certificate to Goodwill (don't ask - I promise it is not because I need it) and plan to spend part of my afternoon fluttering about the racks at my local store trying to locate the PERFECT floral dress.

I have a feeling it will be from the mid 90's and fabulous.

Day vs. Night

I am always on the prowl for new glasses, both reading and sunnies. So when I was perusing the site www.coastalcontacts.com, I found this fantastic new pair of light pink gucci frames that would really brighten up my work day. Normally, I wear large, plum colored Ralph Lauren frames, which I absolutely love, but sometimes I like to shake it up a bit - hence the light pink. I also believe, since it is summer and I am getting a new summer hair cut (bob with blunt bangs), that these glasses will look good against tan skin, black/brown bangs, and nude lips.

Now on to the sunnies catagory... I have decided to go for an old favorite - Ray Ban Wayfarer. (thank you Bob Dylan and Jack Nicholson). Because of a fortunately timed Sunglass Hut gift certificate I have started looking for some new nice sunnies. I have always coveted the Mother of Pearl Chanel Glasses, but because of budget contraints and the fact that I have been wearing my fiance's wayfarers every weekend (much is his dismay) I need to get my own.

Step One.....

Today I am going to the gym. I have not been in over 3 weeks which is not good for:

1. my waistline
2. my self esteem.

This week I decided I was going to start taking care of myself. I went to the grocery store, stocked up on healthy food and I made a commitment to myself to work out at least 3 times this week.

LETS GET PHYSICAL.
