Channeling Mad Men - Decor Edition

I told you that the first post concerning my obsession with all things Mad Med would be one of my many...

The decor of Mad Men is amazing. I am always trying to figure out how to incorporate vintage pieces into my furnishings/art/etc without it looking like I should be putting plastic covers on everything and eating dinner at 4:30pm. This has been a labor of love so to speak, because some vintage pieces look gaudy when all thrown together; finally though I have found some inspriation on my FAVORITE site .

You can see the house tour and article here on Becke & Lee's vintage cabin in Lakeport, Ontario Canada. I am simply using ALL the pictures I post here from the tour as inspriration of our next place.

Red Lipstick...

I have been trying to bild up the courage for months to wear red lipstick. Clear gloss and nothing else is the only thing in my "lip makeup confort zone", so wearing red for the evening makes me cringe. I always admire it on others, and I even toyed with the idea of wearing it for my wedding, but I can't seem to get over the fear associated with the boldness factor. That is, until now.

Tonight - for the first time since I played the part of a hussy in Oklahoma for my seventh grade musiscal, I am wearing red lipstick.

Check it out....

RED LIPSTICK!

Please excuse the quality of the picture - my cell phone was the only thing I had on hand to snap with.

Empire State of Mind...

This song really does inspire a "Empire State of Mind" - I have been jamming to it since a good friend introduced it to us a month ago.

"Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
There's nothing you can’t do,
Now you're in New York....These streets will make you feel brand new,
the lights will inspire you,
Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York"

Make Rain Chic.

Now that is it OFFICIALLY the holiday season, the requests for my Christmas list have started to come from parents/grandparents.

Here are some items that top my list....

Shape Up or Ship Out

I need to drop several sizes. My ever expanding waist line as caused my closet to shrink because a lot of my options don't fit me anymore. So, my new goal, lose all the weight I have gained by spring. Now, with every good weight loss regimine comes rewards, and I plan to do so handsomely with clothing and shoes for every 10 pound weight loss I realize.

My first "treat"

Men Gold Watch.... how fun!

I.heart.longchamp

I normally steer clear of the Longchamp online site for fear I will get sucked in, then suckered in, to buying a bag. The epitome of classic bag - Longchamp is a go to for all things elegant and honestly, I give big props to anyone that can make a nylon bag an "it" bag.

Which brings us to my new love.. the COSMOS bag. The perfect shape in a Cognac color that may have only come from a golden calf, this bag makes me want to pawn all of my belongings to purchase it.

Find it here

So, I wonder if my cat plus my collection of vintage hand bags will equal $900.00 - I doubt it. At least a girl CAN dream.

Hmmmm which one will I pick ?!?!?

Channeling Mad Men.... Part 1.

So recently, Mr.Wright and I have been watching episode upon episode of Mad Men. Along with the constant cocktails and unadulterated smoking I ADORE the clothing, the decore, the hair and, most importantly, the jewelry. Vintage jewelry has always been on the top of my must have list, but not until J.Crew unveiled their new jewelry line, did I think I could ever afford the pieces. Here are some of the things I am LOVING now....

Baroque brooch bracelet - $55.00

Estate link bracelet - $58.00 (yes more equestrian, but still has that tactile chunky vintage cocktail braclet feel)

Luxe Cocktail Bracelet - $98.00

Crystal fireworks earrings - $55.00

Crystal thornbush earrings - $75.00

Crystal supernova necklace - $128.00

Just call me Poppy..

Lately, I have been on a spending hiatus. I have not bought any clothing in literally weeks, aside from a Target dress that only cost me $12.80. So, in order to keep myself from going crazy, whipping out a credit card, and going on a spending spree, I look on the internet at the current clothing I want and plot how I will scoop them up as soon as they go on sale.

This method does not always work, but a girl can dream right?

Currently, these are the pieces that I am drooling over.

Candela Over the Knee Boot.

Alexandra Moc.

Toothpick

Native American Necklace. (more to come in another post..)

Simone Cardigan - Tory Burch

MY BFF - lets call her Mrs.DC has it in black - obsession.
